The Gaslight Anthem
Oh Brian Fallon, how we’ve missed that gritty wail and your band’s punk-rock-americana swagger. To quote the hit song from the The Gaslight Anthem’s 2008’s record The ‘59 Sound, there are “Great Expectations” about the band’s follow up to the 2010 release of American Slang. On May 8, 2012 TGA released “45″, their first single off the much anticipated new album to come, Handwritten. A preview of other new track names includes “Here Comes My Man”, “Too Much Blood” and “Howl”.
The band will be offering up a live sampling of Handwritten on tour, which kicks off in Paris – and includes an affair with Lollapalooza along the way. If you’re anxious to sample the new material, do what I do and just blast “45″ on repeat. Every time the chorus hits I want to belt, “Ah hey, turn the record over!” loud enough to risk my neighbors calling the cops. While the rest of the new record remains to be heard, this track really channels the same earnest punk-rock zeal as “Old White Lincoln” and “High Lonesome”.
One thing’s for sure; every festival needs that one band that will evoke unabashed jumping and hollering from the crowd – and you can bet your high-top sneakers and your sailor tattoos it’ll be these guys.
The Gaslight Anthem will be playing Lollapalooza on Sunday, August 5th, 2012.
Add The Gaslight Anthem to your custom Lollapalooza line-up.
Cheers,
